I am often asked by followers about the various bits of gear used to create all of the Gumbal content. To give you an idea, here is a complete overview of all the technical gadgets I used in my videos. You will notice that all of the items are from Sony as a result of one quite simple reason; I’m a big fan of the brand and I have used Sony products for the last 10-15 years. They have never let me down so each time I upgrade, I know that I’m in for a top-end and reliable product if I head back to browse the options from Sony.
Most of my videos are recorded with this video camcorder. The video quality is incredible. Footage looks natural, as if you’re viewing the scene with your own eyes, and the colours are astoundingly well reproduced. Not just the colours of the objects in immediate focus, but the yellow of a van in the distance, the blues, whites and greys of the clouds overhead and the greens of faraway trees. The detail is exquisite too, and the HDR-CX730E captures footage that’s truly worthy of the label Full HD. There are few signs of compression and the clarity with which scenes are rendered is breathtaking.

Recently I have bought a new video camera from, it's the Sony FDR AX33 4k. The Sony Handycam FDR-AX33 can record Full 4K footage at 24p, and 30p. It can also record Full HD at 60p, 24p, and 30p. The high quality Carl Zeiss Wide Angle Lens has a 35mm equivalent of 29.8mm – 298mm. Face Detection. 1/2.3″ back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS Sensor. NightShot® Infrared System to shoot at night or complete darkness. Other features: up to 20.1 megapixel still images, Large 3.0 inch Xtra Fine LCDtouch-screen (921K pixels), The new powerful Bionz X image processor allows you to record in 4K Ultra HD, as well as improving battery life. WiFi and NFC to control your camcorder remotely. The FDR-AX33 uses the new highly efficient XAVC-S 4K compression format (100Mbps bit rate) to record 4K @ 30p, or (50Mbps bit rate) to record 1080p video at 60p. Records 4K video right in the camera to an SDHC SDXC U3 memory card. Can also record to AVCHD and MP4 codecs for HD. The camcorder does have an internal Dolby 5.1 surround sound microphone (with enhanced audio control), and Linear PCM audio quality. A standard accessory shoe is included for lights, and external microphones. The AX33 also includes an External Microphone Jack and Headphone Jack. Other Features: Tracking Focus follows selected subjects. Hookup to an HDTV or a 4K TV through the built-in HDMI port. USB 2.0 interface. High contrast 0.24″ EVF (Electronic Viewfinder) with 1.55 million dots is provided. Includes a lens hood.

Sometimes it's handy to have a small video camera, therefor I use the Sony Action Cam Mini HDR-AZ1. The Sony Action Cam Mini HDR-AZ1 is smaller and lighter than many competitors; it has excellent video quality with solid electronic image stabilization; the live-view remote lets you wirelessly preview, review and change settings, and has GPS; it has a splashproof body and a removable, rechargeable battery; the included tripod mount gives you plenty of accessory choice.
